Craft Championship

ABC Craft Championship

Associated Builders and Contractors, Texas Gulf Coast Chapter, Inc. held its annual 2017 ABC Local Craft Championships at Brazosport College on November 2, 2017.

Participants competed against their peers for a chance to compete in the 2018 ABC National Craft Championships in Long Beach, California, March 18-22, 2018.  This year, electrical and millwright crafts were represented in the local competition with the support of our education partner, Brazosport College.

Local competitors met specific criteria which included active enrollment in craft training within the past 9 months, sponsored by an ABC Texas Gulf Coast member company or accredited educational facility, and completion of the 1st two levels of their craft with a “B” or better average.

The local competition consisted of both written knowledge assessments and performance verifications.   In determining a final score, the written exam accounted for 25% and the performance portion comprised 75%.

As a result, the ABC Texas Gulf Coast Chapter will sponsor the following two champions at the 2018 ABC National Craft Championships:

  • John Cardenas - Electrical (Wolfenson Electric)

  • Jesus Longoria – Millwright (RPM Services, Inc.)

Beginning in 1987, the ABC National Craft Championships has emerged to be one of construction industries most recognized and revered craft skills events and premier skills competitions.

We offer our congratulations, support, and wish them each tremendous success at the national competition.

MSTI Director of Education Margaret McMahan congratulates Jesus Longoria of RPM Services and John Cardenas of Wolfenson Electric on their achievements.
