Merit Shop Training, Inc. (MSTI) is the educational affiliate of ABC Texas Gulf Coast Chapter.   MSTIs mission is to provide training to yield a highly skilled workforce for local industry and contractor members. MSTI is:

  • an NCCER Accredited Training Sponsor, providing craft education in conjunction with Brazosport College since 1973 and with many contractor companies and industrial sites as NCCER Accredited Training Units under our sponsorship.
  • an NCCER Accredited Assessment Center, providing NCCER Certification by knowledge assessment and performance verification for journey level craftsmen.  Assessments are available in many crafts to become NCCER Certified.
  • an NCCER Endorsed Site for Crane, Rigging, and Signal Person, providing training and certification resulting in an NCCER Gold Card
  • a resource for studying by utilizing MSTI Study Hall with NCCER books available for study at $10/day
  • NCCER Craft and Pipeline Assessments may be scheduled by calling 979-824-7370.

MSTI is also a Host-Training Organization with The University of Texas at Arlington delivering OSHA Training at our Freeport facility.  NOTE:  MSTI is not an OSHA Training Institute Education Center, but serves as a Host-Training Organization for the University of Texas at Arlington OSHA Training Institute Education Center.



NCCER Craft Training Available

MSTI, the educational affiliate of ABC Texas Gulf Coast, is an NCCER Accredited Training Sponsor.  

MSTI offers ABC Member Employees NCCER Craft Training  in partnership with our 40+ year partner Brazosport College at discounted rates. This proven training model allows employees of ABC Member Companies to gain on-the-job experience while training in their craft.  This reduces the time required to work at journey level. Craft areas include:
