First Place Gold Medal in ABC National Craft Championships comes home with Cody Barnard of McGill Maintenance Partnership, Ltd., sponsored by ABC Texas Gulf Coast Chapter & Merit Shop Training, Inc., and trained at Brazosport College!
We are thrilled and proud to let you know that we have a 1st Place, Gold Medal Winner in the 2010 ABC National Craft Championship. Cody took top honors in the millwright division at the championship this past week in San Diego, CA. Several years of hard work at McGill Maintenance and training in millwright classes at Brazosport College paid off for 24-year old local craftsman Cody Barnard. Cody won our local championship this past fall and has been studying and practicing since then in preparation for this national competition. He hopes to graduate soon with not only his Millwright certificates from the college and MSTI but also his Associate's Degree. Cody has been under the instruction of veteran instructor Jim Slick at Brazosport College and joins a long list of other winners from this MSTI/BC Millwright program.
ABC Texas Gulf Coast and Merit Shop Training, Inc. are very proud of Cody's efforts and his commitment to his craft and the construction industry. Congratulations to Cody and all who had a part in 'growing' this young craftsman! Dow Texas Operations Site Maintenance Leader Speaks at Membership EventWayne Muil, Site Maintenance Leader for Dow Texas Operations, was the guest speaker for Texas Gulf Coast Chapters’ first membership event and luncheon of 2010. In his speech, Industry Perspectives: Building 2010 and Beyond, Muil reported that 2009 was a great year for safety at Dow, especially in maintenance. While zero incidents are always the goal, the number of incidents was less than half of the projected goal for improvement in 2009. In looking forward, Mr. Muil told the group of 100+ that Dow is cautiously optimistic about 2010. He recognized the many leaders in the audience for their diligence and assistance in addressing the economy in 2009 and asked for their continued support in 2010.
